Organized Basketball — The SanoHoops Standard

This is not an ordinary liga. Every game is run to tournament standard.

Player IDs on court
All players and coaches carry valid IDs during games. SanoHoops Player IDs are issued after verification. No ID, no entry to the playing court — that keeps every roster clean and every game protest-free.
3-man referee crew
Every game, all SBP-accredited officials.
3-man statisticians crew
A dedicated three-person stats team at every game, so nothing on the floor goes unrecorded.
FIBA LiveStats applied
Games are encoded on FIBA LiveStats — the same system used at the Regional and National level — so your numbers are official from the very first game in Bohol.
Official table crew
Table officials at every game.
Medic on duty
One medic assigned per game, on site and ready to assist.
Games start on time
Published schedules and brackets.
FIBA rules
Played under official FIBA rules, with the SBP house rules in Section 12.
03

Player Development

Rising Stars is built to make players better, not just to crown a champion.

The house rules develop skills
No zone defense means players learn real man-to-man defense. The 4-point rule rewards shooters who extend their range and teams that move the ball.
Live stats every game
Tracked by SanoHoops statisticians and posted on sanohoops.com.
Individual player rankings
Tracked throughout the tournament, so players see where they stand among Bohol's best.
Player Report Card
Every registered player receives a personal end-of-tournament report with averages, totals and rankings.
Your numbers follow you
Each player's profile stays on sanohoops.com and builds season after season.

Tournament Format

Each division is a 24-team knockout bracket — 32 games over 4 days, and every team plays at least twice.

24-team knockout bracket

Keep winning, keep playing
Up to 5 games: a Round 1 team that reaches the final plays every day.

Losers are paired across bracket halves, so no team meets the same opponent twice. Bracket positions and byes are decided by a public, livestreamed draw — see Seeding and the Draw below.

12

Seeding & the Draw

Bracket positions and byes are decided by a public, livestreamed draw — not by the organizers.

1 · Verify
Only teams cleared at player verification enter the draw.
2 · Public draw
Livestreamed with coaches present. Each team draws a seed number from 1 to 24.
3 · Byes
Seeds 1–8 skip to the Round of 16. Seeds 9–24 play Round 1.
4 · Bracket locked
Seeds slot into fixed pairings and the schedule is published the same day.
Fair-draw rules
  • ★Teams from the same school or barangay go to opposite halves
  • ★Seeds 1 and 2 sit in opposite halves, so they can only meet in the final
  • ★No swaps or appeals once the draw is done
Your 2-game guarantee
Seeds 9–24 · start in Round 1
Game 1 on Day 1. Win → Round of 16 on Day 2. Lose → Consolation on Day 3.
Seeds 1–8 · bye to the Round of 16
Game 1 on Day 2. Win → Quarterfinal on Day 3. Lose → Classification on Day 4.

From next season, seeds will be based on the previous Rising Stars standings, with a draw for new teams.

13

Rules of the Game

All games follow official FIBA rules, with these special SBP house rules:

No zone defense
Man-to-man defense at all times. Violations are penalized with a technical foul.
No full-court press until the 4th quarter
In Quarters 1–3, no full-court pressure after a dead ball. Pressure in the flow of the game — after a steal or defensive rebound — is allowed. Full-court press is allowed in the 4th quarter.
Three-pointers count as 4 points
A made shot from beyond the arc earns 4 points plus a bonus free throw. A shooter fouled on a missed three gets 3 free throws, and making all 3 earns an extra point.
